Dreams and Visions of Jesus in Louisville

Image-1My wife and I met Christina while working at a local restaurant. She was quiet and her English wasn’t that great, so no one talked to her much. Nearly everyone in the restaurant were Christians, except for Christina and a couple refugees from Bhutan and Gabon. We loved to ask them questions and hear their amazing stories. They really came to life when anyone showed interest.

In time the conversations went deeper, and we began to tell them stories about Jesus. Though each of them were fascinated with such a man, Christina was the most interested of all. She was clearly ready to hear his entire story.

One night we invited Christina and her daughter over for dinner. Then, sitting in our living room, we shared the full story of Jesus. Her response was unforgettable. She said that a few years before she had experienced the most amazing dream. In it she was at a Catholic church in Mexico, where a man in glowing light approached her and said, “I am Jesus, come to me.” Since then, she had been eagerly waiting for someone who knew Jesus to explain how to come to him.

We had heard many stories of people across the Middle East having dreams and visions of Jesus that prepare them to hear the gospel. But this was a nominally Catholic single mom from Mexico given a vision of Jesus right here in Louisville. That night, Christina received the good news Jesus had prepared her for. She is now part of a Hispanic church.

Do you not say, “Four months more and then the harvest”? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.
